A groundbreaking proposal by an Ethereum researcher aims to tackle a persistent issue in the cryptocurrency world – insider trading. By introducing a novel algorithm, the researcher seeks to level the playing field and enhance trust in the Ethereum network.

Ethereum Researcher Proposes Algorithm to Stop Insider Trading

Ethereum researcher Malik672 has proposed a new algorithm using random allocation of transaction orders to address centralisation on the Ethereum network. The algorithm leverages Byzantine Fault Tolerance (BFT) to remove Maximal Extractable Value (MFV), a technique used by dishonest actors to make money on the market using inside information. According to Ethereum Foundation researcher Toni Wahrstatter, in the first two weeks of October 2024, 89% of Ethereum blocks were handled by only two block builders, Beaverbuild and Titan Builder. Although the figure has since dropped to 80%, it still indicates that Ethereum is far from decentralized.

Ethereum News Today: Pectra Upgrade Advances Despite Testing Setbacks

Ethereum’s much-anticipated Pectra upgrade is making progress after a successful deployment on the Sepolia testnet. This update is set to improve staking, enhance wallet functionality, and boost overall network efficiency. However, recent testing hiccups have raised concerns about when it will officially launch on the mainnet.

Ethereum’s Pectra Upgrade In Progress: Will ETH Drop Below $2K Before a Rally?

Ethereum’s long-awaited Pectra upgrade has taken a big step forward with its launch on the Holesky testnet. This upgrade brings key improvements for validators, wallets, and layer-2 scaling. Developers can now test these features before they go live on the Ethereum mainnet. Ethereum developers have been working on Pectra for months, and its activation on Holesky at epoch 115,968 marks a crucial step. The Sepolia testnet already adopted the upgrade at epoch 222,464 on March 5. Now, with both test networks testing the changes, Ethereum developers are expected to decide on a mainnet launch date soon.

Ethereum’s Pectra Upgrade Encounters Issues on Sepolia Testnet

The Ethereum Foundation’s Pectra upgrade, which was deployed on the Sepolia testnet on March 5, encountered issues. Clients struggled to include transactions in blocks due to a problem caused by the custom deposit contract on Sepolia. Ethereum Foundation protocol support lead Tim Beiko confirmed the team was investigating the issue shortly after celebrating the completion of the upgrade’s final testing phase.
